Many, if not most, don’t believe they can meditate, or find it hard to believe in the power of meditation. The purpose of this practice is to concentrate on a singular point in order to quiet the body and mind. No matter if meditation isn’t your thing, try these mindful exercises to re-center, refocus, and relax.
Yoga takes aspects of meditation, body work, and breathing to create intentional movement. If you find it hard to quiet your mind, then focus on your body and eliminate the distractions that cause you internal and external stress. Alo Moves has a great yoga section for newbies looking to experience a meditation alternative.
Find peace in a peaceful place.Taking a walk can have similar affects as meditation, such as: the calming of the mind, the relaxation of muscles, and the reconnection of the body. As an additive bonus, you will burn calories simultaneously. Don’t underestimate the power of a good walk.
We breath everyday, but don’t take the time to appreciate the breathes we are able to take. Grab a gratitude mindset, and try “conscious breathing”. This is an activity that can be as long as you’d like. Simply, take deep, long breathes that fill your lungs and exhale letting your chest and shoulders fall in its completion. This simple breathe work will work wonders on stiff joints while helping to clear your mind.
