After a lot of trial and error, I’ve found a few methods of mindful movement that really work for my mind & body and here’s my top 5:
I leave my phone inside the house so that I’m distraction free and go outside for a moment of fresh air and clarity. I make sure to take notice of things around me, embrace the soft wind on my face, and practice living in the moment.
I love to go to my local park to practice pilates under the warmth of the sun. It gives me more energy to complete my workout and space to focus on the movement at hand.
There’s just something about being by the ocean that truly calms me and allows me to be present. This is the place where I go to let my emotions out and be mindful in every way.
Being in an 80+ degree room practicing yoga with sweat dripping down is an effortless way to put focus on my body. In this type of environment, I’m able to bring my awareness to how my body is moving and feeling as I flow.
When I’m doing this exercise, I’m telling my body one thing and that is to jump.
Whatever physical activity allows you to focus on noticing and feeling what your body does while engaging in movement is mindful movement. Take some time to explore what that looks like for you and see how you feel.
