Just like your body takes in the warmth you are surrounded by in a hot bath, you can take in the vibrations your are surrounded by in a sound bath. Called by a few names, like sound therapy or sound meditation, a “Sound Bath” is when you welcome the vibrations created by sound instruments to help center your mind, and ground your body.
A sound bath, or sound healing, uses vibrations to balance and unblock the body’s energy centers, known as the chakras.
It is a form of therapy that does not require any supplements, chemicals, or additional treatments. You simply let the sound cleanse the mind and body to bring you to a calm, and potentially, meditative state. Joining these two aspects of your being to one center point will bring mental and physical relaxation. Use sound baths as a stress reliever, to find balance, meditate, or to just connect with yourself on a different level.
Sound therapy can be done through the usage of many different instruments. Soothing sounds from a harp, rhythmic beats from a drum, or echoing sounds from a sound bowl are just a few ways to achieve a sound bath. The importance is not the sound, but the continuous frequency that you receive while listening to the sound. No matter what you hear, you have to open yourself up to receiving these vibrations and focus on the sound, and the sound alone.
During my 2021 Soulwork Friends & Family event, I added a sound bath experience to help end the event in a harmonious way to continue the good vibrations that were felt throughout the day. Although some of my family fell into a calming rest, many, including myself, felt centered and rejuvenated by the sound bath experience. For about $25 per person, I was able to provide a new wellness activity to my friends and family. 10/10 – would highly recommend.
